Hello fellow wanderers, as I sit down to write these words I’m filled with an overwhelming sense of gratitude. Countless hours of creativity, and dedication have gone into the creation of this space, and I’m immensely thankful that you are here, reading these lines! 

I’ll begin by sharing more about myself and my creative journey. I’m Emilie, a visual storyteller, author, and the creative mind behind @helloemilie. I currently call the East Coast of Australia home, nestled between the mountains and the sea. Yet, my heart belongs to our planet and the joy found within creating.

For the past decade I’ve wandered across the globe to capture and share the untold stories of our planet. A nomad of sorts, my travels both far and wide have opened my eyes, heart and mind. With an identifiable style and intentional approach, each time I capture the world around me I hope to create an emotional resonance that feels timeless and immersive. Visuals that have the ability to deeply connect with others on many forms.

 I’ve always had an innate love of creativity. Growing up I experimented with different art forms and mediums from painting, drawing, ceramics, anything where I could create and let my imagination become tangible. My love for photography first started years ago when I discovered black and white film photography in a tiny dark room. I remember the moment I saw my first photograph develop in the chemicals right before my eyes, I was immediately fascinated and it opened up a whole new world for me. 

At the very beginning I didn’t have many thoughts or intentions about this industry I was about to enter into, it all happened fast but somewhat seamlessly. I simply loved creating and sharing stories and with lots of time, energy and dedication I’m grateful to be able to keep creating for over the last 10 years.

Focusing on travel was never intentional as I originally studied a Bachelor of Design and I always imagined myself ending up the design world. However photography was always something I came back to and I fell more and more in love with the process behind creating imagery and the ability to tell stories. The combination of travel and photography allows me to create a strong sense of story, a way to capture emotion which feels transportive as well as sharing the beautiful wonders of our planet.

The continual ebb and flow of being a creative and constantly being on the move forces you adapt and see things differently, a mindset which allows myself to appreciate the beauty that can be found all around us. I have always been infatuated by light and the ability light has to change everything from setting the mood to telling a story. 

The creation of this space has been a labor of love, a testament to countless hours of creativity and dedication, and it fills me with immense joy to have you here. I’ve shared with you a glimpse of my creative journey, the winding path that led me here. The perpetual ebb and flow of a creative life, forever on the move, has honed my ability to see the world differently. This mindset enables me to find beauty in the ordinary, appreciate the transient nature of light, and harness the elements beyond our control to create and capture beautiful, fleeting moments.
